HomeTech.fm ("we", "us", "the show") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit this website or listen to our podcast, how it is used, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell your personal information.

Site analytics (Cloudflare)

This website is hosted on and served through Cloudflare. As part of delivering, securing, and measuring the site, Cloudflare processes standard server-side request data — including IP addresses and user-agent strings — and produces aggregate, privacy-friendly traffic analytics (such as page views, referrers, and approximate location) for us. This measurement is cookieless: it does not place tracking cookies or persistent identifiers on your device, and it does not follow you across other sites.

We do not use Google Analytics, third-party advertising, ad personalization, or cross-site tracking cookies on this site. The traffic data we see is aggregated and is used only to understand, in broad terms, how the site is used so we can improve it.

Podcast audio (Libsyn)

Our episodes are hosted and delivered by Libsyn. When you play or download an episode — here, in a podcast app, or anywhere our RSS feed is distributed — Libsyn records standard, IP-based download analytics consistent with the IAB Podcast Measurement guidelines (for example your IP address, user agent, and the episode requested). This measurement happens at the audio-hosting layer regardless of this site, is used to produce aggregate listenership numbers, and is governed by Libsyn’s own privacy policy.

Contact and project submission forms

If you use our feedback or project-submission forms, we collect the information you choose to provide. This may include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your message, question, or project details

Submissions are stored in Cloudflare’s storage services (Workers KV and/or D1) and a notification is emailed to us through Resend, our transactional email provider, so we can read and reply. We use this information only to respond to you and to operate the show; we do not sell it or use it for advertising.

Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused CAPTCHA alternative that helps us block automated spam without tracking you across the web. Turnstile may collect limited technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) to distinguish humans from bots, processed under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Images and content delivery (Cloudflare R2 / CDN)

Images and static assets on this site are served from Cloudflare R2 through Cloudflare’s global CDN. As with any web request, Cloudflare may process standard server log data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver content and protect the site. This site is static — it does not run a database or user accounts in the page itself.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not set advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies, and there is no cookie-consent banner because no tracking cookies are used. The only storage on your device is essential or functional storage that makes the site work — for example, the audio player remembers your playback position, volume, and playback rate locally in your browser so listening picks up where you left off.

You remain in control of this local storage:

  • Clear this site’s data in your browser to reset saved player preferences.
  • Use your browser’s privacy controls (or private/incognito mode) to prevent local storage from persisting.

Third-party services

Some processing is handled by the third parties named above — Cloudflare (hosting, analytics, Turnstile, R2/CDN), Libsyn (audio), and Resend (email). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We choose providers with privacy practices we are comfortable with, but we do not control their independent processing.

Children’s privacy

This site and podcast are intended for a general adult audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or our providers change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
